Intergroup Interreligious Affairs

The AJC builds bridges with other ethnic, racial and religious groups in order to form coalitions to serve our common interests, promote tolerance, foster mutual understanding and to support a pluralistic, democratic America. Our goal is to make real the promise of equal opportunity, uphold the separation of religion and state, defend our American heritage of religious liberty, and insure respect for the dignity of every individual. Our chapter examines such issues as "Faith Based Initiatives" programs and offers events relating to the arenas of church-state, religious freedom, racism and anti-Semitism, intergroup relations, immigration, public education and civil rights. We maintain continuing relations with leaders of ethnic organizations in the Latino, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Filipino communities on issues such as hate crimes and anti-Semitic activities and provide access to political leaders.
