C/JEEP

Our Catholic Jewish Educational Enrichment Program, C/JEEP, is an ongoing initiative undertaken by AJC, the Archdiocese of San Francisco and the Oakland Diocese in an effort to increase mutual understanding and appreciation among Catholic and Jewish students and educators, and to minimize or eliminate stereotyping, anti-Semitism and bigotry among the participants.

The program is implemented by having a local rabbi teach a series of religion classes at participating parochial schools, and, similarly, a Catholic cleric address Jewish students in Jewish high schools or Jewish religious schools. The curriculum confronts and examines preconceptions about two great religions and their practitioners, both on historical and current issues.

“Rabbi Waldenberg is just superb. He relates to the high school student very well and his knowledge and expertise of Hebrew scripture and cultural history is flawless.”
“I hope this program can continue and expand. It so enriches what we offer our students.”
Religious Studies Chair of St. Ignatius College Preparatory

“I really appreciated you giving me another perspective on the film”
“I haven’t seen the Passion of the Christ yet, but when I do I will keep in mind what you have taught me”
“Made me more open minded about the Jewish religion and tradition”
“I found your discussion to be very help and informative. It made me aware of the prejudice against Jews and to know how truly wrong it is”
