Re: No on Proposition 23: Stop the Dirty Energy Proposition

As Jews who care deeply about California’s future, we urge you to join us in voting “No” on Proposition 23: the “Dirty Energy” Proposition. Your support will ensure:

  • California continues to lead the clean energy economy of the future;
  • we decrease our dependence on foreign oil;
  • we promote both the US’ and Israel’s economic and national security; and
  • we actualize the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).

Out-of-state oil interests are spending millions of dollars to push a deceptive proposition that will in effect permanently suspend AB 32, California’s clean and secure energy law and global warming solutions act.  The negative impacts of the passage of Proposition 23 clearly outweigh any short-term costs associated with reducing California’s carbon emissions. The passage of Prop 23 will significantly slow the development of the clean economy that is helping to power California out of recession: the Clean Economy Network estimates that the passage of Proposition 23 would jeopardize a half million Californian clean technology jobs, 12,000 Californian clean technology companies and billions of dollars of private investment in California.

For the above reasons, we strongly encourage you to oppose Proposition 23 on the November ballot. For more information and to get involved in the fight against Prop 23, please visit www.stopdirtyenergyprop.com.
